Hey all,

Just wondering if there is any info about new features that we can look forward too in V8? I remember hearing something about automation clips/template (also heard they got scrapped)

Is V8 looking like it's going to be quite a huge update?

Any changes been made to the playlist?

Cheers.

Boo yourself :p :hihi:

But, seriously, there's nothing really feature-wise to add to any list yet.
Work on the playlist and automation system, though mentioned and discussed, isn't "carved in stone" yet and no one really knows yet what it will be like.
There's new additions (and possibly some reduction - nothing to worry about, though, it's mostly replacements) in the Instrument and Effects department, but I'm very confident you'll be surprised with additions... I know I am :) Though, I think it would be cool if all internal effects would get what the new additions have, at least as a common shared thing.
There's more bugs to iron out as it stands now.

It's pretty much on a stand still right now. It's hard to keep focus on two major thing at once, lots of things can go wrong that way, so the work on Orion will resume after the forthcoming VST is released.

Th-th-tha-th-that's all, folks. :D

Are you implying that the problems that caused Rich to stop and think have now been overcome, and development will resume after the release of the monster virus type modular under the hood really big VST thinggy?

That is soo kewl.

Not implying anything. There's still some serious problems to think about.

Make a slicing tool built into the song playlist.

Slicing tool for what?

You can already slice Audio Tracks. For MIDI it's not as easy as it may sound.
Being that it's pattern based, and not clip based, there has to be decision making about two things: finding and storing the slices within pattern based environment and whether or not to keep the original pattern. Should it just slice off the second half starting from the slice and store it in the empty pattern, or to keep the original and store slices into two separate patterns? That's the kind of decision making Rich has to cope with. It might sound like a trivial thing to ponder about, but when it's done, one thing will work for some, the same thing won't do for the others, so keeping the balance in all things is not so easy sometimes.

I reckon if it was clip based it would be much easier to do all that slicing and storing, since you won't need empty patterns, thus no need to look for them either.

I guess that's one of the things that will come into decision process during the playlist overhaul if it occurs. Who knows, maybe Rich decides to keep it as it is :hihi:

Add something like a bitrate selector in the rendering engine.

32kbps - 320 kbps

you can slice samples by loading them onto the sampler and using the groover slicer tool. This will autoslice and map to key. You can then assign key maps if you wish.

I'm just getting used to 7.6!!!  And now V8 is on the way.. cool..

Hoping for automation tracks, bounce to audio, and the "make hit song" button that they keep refusing to add! (lol)

I'm sure that if Rich added it, you'd press it the wrong way and it wouldn't work properly anyway. Good to see you back after such a long time.

Yeah, I'd produce some horrid tarnce/darkemo track that would force me to pay people damages every time they listened.. wait! That's what happens NOW!

Yeah, life took an odd turn, now finally getting back into the groove!  Hopefully new tunes will emerge in the coming weeks!  And hopefully they won't cause mass suicides... ;-p

It's the smell afterwards, and face it, even with a lot of gasoline clean-up is a pain!

Can't wait for V8!

The new synth will occupy you for a good while. When Orion 8 appears, it'll feel like you never waited. :)

Which could be a good thing (?) maybe the synth is soooo good that you cannot get bored of it, or maybe Orion is sooooo bad that you go back to 7.62 :D

Just joking :)

btw, what is the new synth name?

I can imagine you deliberately makng the synth complex enough to fend off the maddened hordes while you put the final touches on V8!  Heh, heh, heh..

Just give me automation tracks/lanes/whateveryoucallit and I'll be pretty happy!
